UNSW Chemical Engineering PhD candidate Amos Branch has won the Michael Flynn Award for Best Oral presentation at the Australian Water Association OzWater 2015 (Australia's International Water Conference & Exhibition) in Adelaide on 13 May.

Branch's presentation was titled 'Chemical Cleaning in Membrane Bioreactors, Implications for Accreditation in Water Recycling'. The research presented stems from a larger project, the National Validation framework (NatVal) that will bring consistency to how membrane bioreactors are performance tested and approved for water recycling in Australia.

Substantial support for the research was provided by industry partner Flow Systems who have allowed almost unlimited access to full scale plants and data. The NatVal research project is funded by the Australian Water Recycling Centre of Excellence.

Michael Flynn was a founding member of AWA. As a member, Federal Councilor and Federal President he contributed greatly to the AWA until his passing in 1980. The best poster presentation award aims to reward high quality oral presentations. More information about the award.
