The Membrane Research Environment is an on-line repository and information portal developed within the centre as part of the CSIRO Advanced Membrane Technologies for Water Treatment Research Cluster. The website (www.membranes.edu.au) has two primary functions. Firstly, to provide a searchable archive of ‘grey literature’ on membrane research and development, that supplements the existing online journal resources. This repository currently contains over 1200 publications including technical reports and conference papers from 1978-2009. The second function of MemRE is to provide an authoritative repository, in the form of a wiki, to describe the various properties, characterisation and visualisation methods used when developing new membrane materials. This allows members of the research cluster to compare the properties and performance of new and existing membrane materials against defined standards.
MemRE is currently only available to the CSIRO research cluster members, however, it is hoped that the resources will become available to the wider research community at the conclusion of the project in May 2010.
