Research Project Summary:
CHARACTERIZATION OF FOULING DEPOSITION AND REMOVAL BY DIRECT OBSERVATION TECHNIQUE
The project aim is to visualise the fouling formation on the edge of hollow fibre membrane directly by using 'Direct Observation (DO) technique. The technique showed great advantages to understand the fouling deposition and fouling removal, where the recorded video was studied by directly related with the membrane hydraulic performances.

The initial part of the project is to focus on the fouling formation of the model solution alginate and bentonite particles. The method subsequently applied for activated sludge filtration where it applied during membrane bioreactor operation.
