Summary of Project whilst at the UNESCO Centre for Membrane Science and Technology:
This research study employed the use of dense and microporous sealed end hollow fiber membrane contactors to remove dissolved
oxygen from water through vacuum degassing process. The scope of study includes mass transfer performance,
fluids hydrodynamics and optimizing the contactors. The influence parameters such as module packing fraction and
fiber length were analyzed their effects on mass transfer performance of the contactors.

Cost analysis of vacuum degassing process to remove dissolve oxygen from water through sealed end hollow fiber
membrane contactors, where at lower module shell diameter the total cost is dominated by pumping cost whilst at higher
module shell diameter the total cost is dominated by membrane cost.
