Research Project Summary:
CO2 CAPTURE ECONOMICS
The Cooperative Research Centre or Greenhouse Gas Technologies (CO
2CRC) is developing technologies
and systems to capture CO
2 from a range of emissions and store that CO
2 in a secure geological
or mineral environment for many years. The CO
2CRC researches technologies that are likely to have a
significant impact on current levels of CO
2 emission, particularly from large-scale stationary sources. The
technologies used must be environmentally sustainable, socially acceptable and economically feasible.
The aim of this project is researching the optimisation of CO
2 source-sink combinations for carbon capture
and storage (CCS). Using the existing CCS economic model and integrate it with a network model to examine least cost
solutions for capture technologies as well as source-sink matches.
